Welcome to our memorial page! Here we are honoring the horses who over the years have helped change lives of riders and volunteers alike, have proven their worth at centaur stride, but have sadly moved on to greener pastures. We do not want these horses to be forgotten, so please spend some time looking at all the wonderful horses that we have had the honor to call our faithful companions while they lived their lives.

Tina(?-2006)-a Shetland pony who came to CS in 1998. She gave many children their first ride. Her best friend was Coco.
Janasula(1981-2012) Jani was a gray Arabian who was one of the original horses when Centaur Stride started. She had a sweet spirit and was eager to please. Maple(1983-2015)- (on the left) Maple came in 2003. A fluffy small Shetland pony, he was great to give hugs to. Many children started riding on his back. He loved being with Dyeak and would squeal like a pig if he felt ‘threatened’ by any other horse. (It worked too!) Dude (1999-2023) He was donated by Ed Pace in May 2009 and easily passed his entry exam and specialized training. He is very attentive to his rider, gentle and eager to please, making him a great lesson horse. He is a friend to all the other horses and loves the attention of all the visitors. Eli (1996-2023) Eli is a gelding purchased in 2003 with a grant from the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation. He is calm and strong and gentle enough to work with even our most physically disabled clients. Saigon (2002-2022) Saigon was donated by Emily Overend in July on 2012. He is a quiet Thoroughbred gelding who came to us with great training. His willing personality makes him the best choice for our more advanced riders, although he is equally capable of giving rides to the less experienced. Gypsie (1989-2022) Gypsie was donated by Caitlin Ballerstein in 2005. She is a steady trail horse, does walk, trot, canter lessons, and is also used for therapy lessons. Nikki: (1990-2022) Nikki was donated in 1996 by Sandi Landrich and was a great therapy horse. Gigi (2000-2021) Gigi was donated in 2017 by Jan Curcio. Despite her tall height, she is a gentle giant in the barn community, being a perfect fit for our taller disabled riders, along with our more advanced riders. |
