Meet The Horses
BEAU
Beau is our stocky Haflinger born in 2006. He arrived at Centaur Stride June 2011 as a very green broke pony. He was fine with you on his back, but didn’t have a clue how to steer or move forward! (back was his preferred direction!) Staff’s consistent training paid off very well and he now pretty much does it all, although standing still is still not his favorite thing to do. Trails, therapy riders, or canter lessons, he just takes it in stride. A bit of a character, Beau can be very playful in the pasture. He has also been known to kneel and twist his head sideways under the electric fence to sneak a few blades of grass.
DYEAK
Dyeak was purchased with donations from Ralph and Jan Wilson in 2001 and is a favorite of so many riders due to his lovable nature and perky personality. He is currently retired and is still used for grooming and loving.
PIXIE
Pixie is our sweet pony cross mare born in 2000. We guess she is a Haflinger Hackney Pony cross. A friend of Centaur Stride purchased her at the Sherman Auction in September 2010 for $40. She arrived on a trial basis and has been here ever since! She is super friendly to both people and horses. Gentle under saddle, she does a lot of lead line and beginner rides. Her trot is energetic and very smooth. She also really enjoys the trails.
KASIE
Kasie, a dark chestnut Quarter Horse/Belgium mare, arrived at Centaur Stride as a 4 month old in 1994. Aside from some outside training experiences, she has spent her life as a lesson horse, carrying all kinds of riders over the years. Happy on the trails, she did therapy riders, beginner lessons, and has taught many a rider the canter. She has been known to smile(curl her top lip up) for treats. She is currently enjoying retirement. Thank you Kasie for your faithful service!
LACEY
Lacey is our Morgan mare born in 1999. When she arrived March 2013, it took her awhile to settle in as a lesson horse. Now, however, she is one of our go-to trail horses as well as doing therapy and arena lessons. If given a choice, she will always pick the trail! Recently we discovered she has a cataract in her left eye; thankfully it doesn’t seem to bother her. She carries a lot of our disabled riders. Her favorite thing is being scratched; she will definitely let you know when you’ve found the right spot!!!
RIVER
Indy River joined our herd in June 2023. He is a uniquely marked Appaloosa gelding who was born maybe around 2004(we aren't really sure). He is a super easygoing fellow who does great on the trails.
LAKOTA
Lakota is a Gypsy Vanner Paint cross born May 5, 2013. She was donated to Centaur Stride in July of 2020. Staff have been very impressed with her friendly, gentle spirit. As she was only green broke upon arrival, she was in training for awhile. A quick learner and very willing to please, she has made great progress at walk-trot-canter, basic dressage, and trails under saddle. She is now in our program, carrying a lot of our independent riders. She will be a great all-around lesson horse for many years to come!
BUBBA
Bubba was purchased in February of 2021. He is a Belgian/QH cross gelding born in 2006. He is a bit of a goofy character who will very quickly open his stall door if you forget to put the snap on it! He does therapy and independent lessons, but his favorite thing is definitely doing trails.
DEZI
Dezi was purchased in June of 2021. She is a Suffolk Punch QH cross mare born in 2011. She does a lot of leadline and therapy lessons. She likes to give nuzzles, sticking her very big nose up close to your neck!
FREDDY
Freddy is a cute POA (that is a Shetland Appaloosa cross) pony. He was donated in June 2023. He totes around our littlest riders and is a brave leader on the trails. Born in 2009, he has a fun and kind personality.
BLOSSUM
Blossom is a Welsh Cob cross mare who was born around 2010. She was purchased in May of 2025. She is gentle and friendly and not much of anything bothers her. Not even Santa and his sleigh! She has been a huge benefit to our lesson program especially for independent beginner riders.
MAGIC
Magic was born February of 2002. He is a stout Halflinger gelding with a sweet, slightly goofy personality. He was purchased in April of 2025. Magic has fit in well with our lesson program, carrying therapy riders and getting the hang of being an independent beginner horse.
SADIE
Sadie is a Saddlebred mare born about 2018. She spent a summer as a camp horse before we purchased her in September 2025. Sadie has a very friendly expressive personality. She is growing in her skills under saddle and adjusting to our expectations.
FRODO
Frodo was born about January 2023. His breed is unknown, but probably is a QH cross. We purchased him in September of 2025. He was started very young, so we have just been giving him time to grow up a bit. He will be in training to develop good manners on the ground and consistency under saddle. He is very laid back and easygoing for his age and we are excited to see how he fits in our program in the future.
QWIN
Qwin arrived September of 2025. Her breed is unknown, but we'd guess she could be a QH/Standardbred Cross born around 2016. She is very quiet and sweet. With a history of being a camp horse, she has fit right into our program and is becoming a favorite.
